Visiting Vermeer

Vermeer Corporation – Pella, Iowa USA
Our original location in picturesque Pella, Iowa, is still home to the Vermeer corporate headquarters. Referred to as “The Mile” due to its one-mile length, the 1.5 million square foot manufacturing and parts facilities are where employees design, test and produce machines that are used around the world.
While at Vermeer, be sure to visit our Global Pavilion, a 75,000 square foot, world-class training facility, located at the east end of “The Mile.” Within the Global Pavilion lies the Vermeer museum, where the history of Vermeer, its community and products are chronicled. Immerse yourself in the history of Vermeer and see a sampling of founder Gary Vermeer’s innovative products including the mechanical hoist wagon, his innovative stump cutter and the machine that changed haymaking forever, the “One-Man Hay System.”
The on-site Vermeer Promotional Store offers a selection of business and casual wear, caps, scale models and assorted genuine Vermeer merchandise.
About Pella
Pella, which is Dutch for “City of Refuge,” was established in 1847 when it became the home of 800 Dutch immigrants. Pella remains extremely proud of its Dutch heritage making it the theme of many of the town’s tourist attractions. One of the events Pella is most famous for is Tulip Time, which takes place annually in early May. During these three days, Pella is filled with traditional Dutch cuisine, parades and colorful tulips. Beyond this annual festival, Pella offers plenty of year-round tourist attractions such as the Vermeer Mill, which is the tallest working windmill in the United States.
Pella was honored as the “Tourism Community of the Year” by the State of Iowa and offers unique and fun experiences for its visitors. It is a short drive from Des Moines, Iowa and attracts visitors from around the world. In addition, Pella is home to Central College and Lake Red Rock, Iowa’s largest lake.

Making a real impact in a progressing world.

Making an impact. It’s what we live for. It’s what drives us. It’s what sets us apart.

For more than six decades, Vermeer has been making an impact by providing agricultural and industrial equipment that is built tough, built to perform, built for value and backed by caring customer service. But our impact doesn’t stop there. It goes far beyond the high-quality of our yellow iron. That’s just our starting point. Today, we are an industrial and agricultural equipment company helping make a real impact in a progressing world.

Customers who use Vermeer equipment and service strive to be more productive, profitable and help make good things happen in communities large and small by improving infrastructure that keeps people connected, working farms and ranches that support a vibrant food supply, and by efficiently and responsibly managing natural resources.

We also deliver a positive impact on the more than 3,000 team members of Vermeer and our affiliated companies who have chosen to build a lasting, successful career at one of our worldwide locations, and these people are committed to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work.

We are proud of the impact we are making with our people, our customers and our world and we are a company committed to making a real impact through all our business practices.

Vermeer Family

Our story begins with the Vermeer family. In 1948, Vermeer was founded by Gary Vermeer in Pella, Iowa. Gary has left a lasting legacy, and with the support of his family, helped grow Vermeer into the global business it is today. His philosophy for success was simple: Find a need. Fill that need with a product built to last. And simply build the best!

Today, Gary’s legacy is carried on by Mary (Vermeer) Andringa, currently serving as Chair of the Board, and Robert L. (Bob) Vermeer, Chairman Emeritus.

In 2005, a third generation of the Vermeer family started to join the company when Jason Andringa joined as an Environmental Segment Manager. In November 2015, Jason became the first of the third generation to lead the family company as President and CEO. Allison Vermeer Van Wyngarden joined in 2007 as Industrial Dealership Distribution Manager. And the following year, Mindi Andringa Vanden Bosch was named Continuous Improvement Corporate Manager.

The Vermeer family is committed to growing a vibrant business and thriving communities. The family has operated the Vermeer Charitable Foundation for more than 30 years to enhance education and quality of life both in Pella and around the globe.

Vermeer reaches customers in more than 60 nations. These customers are served by more than 3,000 team members of Vermeer and our affiliated companies in seven manufacturing facilities in Pella, Iowa and satellite manufacturing facilities in Freeman, South Dakota and Beijing, China.
